Welcome To The Mrs B Method
Empowering Learners, Supporting Parents
Welcome to the New Term and some bits and pieces parents of GCSE students need to know...

GCSE Quick Bits Number 1
The things that sometimes aren't made clear to parents... (especially the ones who don't have child geniuses)
What they say...
'If you don't work hard, you'll fail your GCSEs and be homeless.'
Yes, this was said to one of my children!
What we know...
All students have to stay in education (or pursue apprenticeships) until the age of 18.
Even if they do not pass anything, they will be offered the chance to do something at a local college. It may be a level one qualification, but they will not be out on the street!
My Mission, My Method
My mission is to empower children and families who feel overlooked by the UK education system through my method of providing compassionate, personalised support that addresses individual learning needs.
With over 30 years of experience as a teacher and SENDCo, I advocate for children’s well-being above all - because when a child feels safe, understood, and supported, meaningful progress follows.
Whether it’s helping students overcome barriers to learning, supporting parents through the EHCP process, or creating tailored learning plans for home or school, I am committed to ensuring that every child receives the education they deserve - not just one that fits the system, but one that fits them.
Get to Know Me
I’m a mum of four, a passionate educator, and a dedicated advocate for children in education. With over 30 years of teaching experience across primary and secondary schools in Hertfordshire and Essex, I’ve had the privilege of working with students from nursery to Year 11, teaching a wide range of subjects up to GCSE level including Maths, Science, English, History, Art, Drama, and Dance. One of my areas of expertise is helping students move from Grade 3 to Grade 4 in their GCSEs by identifying learning barriers and using personalised strategies to build confidence and progress. A few years ago, I became seriously unwell and left mainstream teaching. Since then, I’ve devoted myself to supporting children and families who feel let down by the system -particularly those navigating SEN, EHCPs, or struggling with a lack of tailored provision. I hold a four-year Primary Education degree from Middlesex University, I also completed a SENDCo coordination course (part of the master's suite) at Hertfordshire University and have been rated ‘Outstanding’ in five Ofsted inspections across Primary, Secondary, and SEND leadership roles. As a qualified SENDCo, I use a range of assessment tools to identify challenges like visual stress, processing delays, dyslexia, ADHD, or coordination issues. While I don’t diagnose, I offer practical, evidence-based interventions - such as using coloured paper for visual stress, flashcards for struggling readers, or mindfulness-based revision tools that combine colouring and learning. I’ve also developed my own spelling program to help students master core vocabulary and improve writing confidence. At the heart of my work is a deep belief that every child deserves an education that meets their unique needs - not one that forces them to fit a system that doesn’t serve them. I support parents in creating SMART learning plans, ensuring their voices are heard and their children’s rights upheld in line with the SEN Code of Practice. I also help with EHCP applications, ensuring every case tells the real story behind the child - my aim is always to move the panel emotionally and ensure true understanding. Outside of education, I run an art business creating meaningful, personalised artwork. Whether teaching or painting, my work is rooted in care, creativity, and connection. I believe that when a child feels safe, valued, and supported, real learning begins and I’m committed to helping families make that happen.

I have created a growing collection of supportive resources for both children and parents, designed to make education more accessible, less overwhelming, and more mindful. These include homeschool packages, structured revision materials, and a range of ‘How Can I Help?’ guides created specifically for parents navigating their child’s learning journey. I also provide glossaries to decode educational jargon and lessons and guides for parents who need to update their skills to help their child. Whether you're looking for homeschool planning, practical tools to reduce stress, or guidance to help your child thrive, my resources - both free and paid - are designed to empower families and make learning feel personal, supported, and possible for everyone.
My resources aim to support parents with clarity, compassion, and conviction as they navigate the complexities of the UK education system. From understanding your rights and decoding the SEN Code of Practice to writing the parental section of an EHCP, I offer practical tools and honest advice rooted in experience and legislation. Whether you need guidance on reasonable adjustments or the right words to make your voice heard, I provide glossaries, email templates, and smart strategies to help you advocate with confidence. I also advise on GCSE options, SATs truths, post-16 pathways, and how to balance homeschooling with working life, including creative teaching methods and forest school alternatives. My goal is to empower parents, support children’s true needs, and make sure no family feels alone in a system that often forgets their voice.
